Data Warehousing

We design and build data warehouses (DW) of all sizes and for many different needs. From the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) which stores masses of data from many disparate operational sources for use across the world, to smaller more discreet data warehouses built to service a particular business intelligence or reporting need.

Built for scale and performance

Size doesn’t concern us when it comes to meeting the challenge with enthusiasm and conscientiousness. But it does matter as far as design and build is concerned.

A good data warehouse meets the demand of the current day and provides scalability for the future.  Performance optimisation and data integrity are key in this process and we understand the importance of this from the outset during the initial design.

Our data warehouse experience (DW) means that we recognise the importance of database design to meet the storage needs and high performance demands of responsive data mining and online analytical processing.

We take many different factors into consideration during the design phase - including:

  • DW platform
  • Database Management System (DBMS)
  • Data volumetrics
  • Database style (normalised or non-normalised)
  • Target BI technology

Extract, transform, load

An integral step in creating a data warehouse is the Extract, transform, load (ETL) of data from disparate sources.  We take responsibility for all aspects of the ETL activities required to deliver projects or install one of our application solutions - creating one off loads for the provision of historical data and setting up scheduled jobs for the continued update of data to the DW.

Our expertise includes:
